When Will the Jets’ First Loss Come?
Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

Expectations never have been higher for the New York Jets. With Aaron Rodgers now under center, the Jets’ Super Bowl odds are at their highest level in well over a decade.

However, the Jets have an incredibly difficult schedule this year, especially out of the gate.

We wondered when the Jets might suffer their first loss against such a tough September slate.

EmpireStakes – your source for NY sports betting promos - compiled hypothetical odds on when the Jets’ first loss will come in 2023.

Jets Schedule Brutal in Sept.

The Jets have a tough game out of the gate as they are slight home underdogs against the Bills on Monday Night Football. The Bills are one of the most well-rounded teams in the league and have won double-digit games in each of the last three seasons. You can check out our analysis of the Bills first loss on this site as well.

According to our hypothetical odds, the Jets have a 54.5% chance to lose in Week 1. Even if they make it past that game, their undefeated streak might not last much longer.

In Week 2, the Jets travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys on a short week. The Cowboys have won 12 games in each of the last two seasons and appear to be even better on paper this year. The Cowboys are three-point favorites going into that game, so the expectation is that the two teams are similar. The good news for the Jets is that Aaron Rodgers is 6-1 in his last seven games against the Cowboys. During that stretch, he’s thrown 14 touchdowns to just two interceptions. Despite being an underdog, the Jets have a great chance to win that game.

If the Jets somehow make it past that two-game stretch to open the year, they’ll take on the Patriots (Week 3) and then the Chiefs (Week 4). It’s a really difficult schedule to open the year, but the best bet here is that they will lose in Week 1 as Rodgers and the rest of the roster continues to gel.

It makes a lot of sense to like the Jets playoff chances in 2023, but don’t be surprised if they get off to a rocky start on New York sportsbook apps this fall.
