3 Key Takeaways

  • The Bills' playoff chances are 75% according to DraftKings Sportsbook, which is up from 71.4% following their Week 3 win.
  • The Bills have a 37.7% chance to win the division. Buffalo's odds got worse despite beating the Washington Commanders in Week 3 to improve to 2-1.
  • The Bills' Super Bowl LVIII odds are +1000, giving them a 9.1% chance to win. Buffalo is tied for the fifth-best odds following their Week 3 win.

The Bills have made the playoffs for four straight years and have won the AFC East three straight seasons. With QB Josh Allen at the helm, the Bills continue to have one of the best offenses in the NFL and remain a Super Bowl contender.

However, with the AFC East getting tougher, the Bills' Super Bowl odds have gone down slightly since May. I will be tracking Buffalo's playoff chances and Super Bowl odds throughout the season.

To get the percent chance, I converted the odds from DraftKings Sportsbook into an implied probability. Every NFL team has odds to make or miss the playoffs, which converts to an implied probability of making or missing the playoffs. DraftKings currently has the Bills at -300 to make the playoffs, which converts into a 75% chance of making the postseason.

Following Buffalo's disappointing loss to the New York Jets, the Bills rebounded nicely with a 38-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in their home opener. Buffalo still has the second-best odds to win the AFC and having the fifth-best chances to win the Super Bowl, according to DraftKings. Along with looking at the Bills' playoff chances, I will also be tracking the New York Times’ Postseason Simulator and ESPN’s Football Power Index to gauge the Bills' progress.

The Bills are above .500 for the first time this season following a blowout win over the Washington Commanders in Week 3. Buffalo will now host the Miami Dolphins in Week 4 in a massive game for the AFC East.

Outside of division games, Nov. 5 is a date Bills fans have circled as Buffalo travels to Cincinnati to play the Bengals. Cincinnati, of course, eliminated the Bills from the playoffs last season.

Buffalo will also be paying close attention to back-to-back games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Luckily for Buffalo, its bye week falls between those games.

Who to Root for if You're a Bills Fan

Bills fans should just be rooting for Buffalo right now, but as the season goes on we will update key games to watch in terms of how they will impact the Bills' playoff chances.

Bills Postseason Outlook and Predictions

As long as Josh Allen is at quarterback, the Bills are one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl. However, a knock on offense is at wide receiver, where the Bills do not have a clear-cut No. 2 option behind Stefon Diggs.

The big news for the Bills was the fact they were able to re-sign S Jordan Poyer. LB Von Miller is expected to be back in the first few weeks, which gives Buffalo's pass rush a huge boost. The defense will be intensely watched after it struggled against the Bengals in the playoffs last season, and after losing Pro Bowl LB Tremaine Edmunds in free agency.

Ultimately, Buffalo is one of the most complete teams in the NFL and should be among the favorites to win the Super Bowl and will likely win the AFC East for the fourth straight year.
