New York sports betting customers will have to wait one more day to wager on one of the sport’s greatest rivalries.

The New York Yankees announced Wednesday that Thursday’s season home opener against American League East Division East rival and foe, the Boston Red Sox, has been postponed due to weather and has been moved to Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET (YES Network).

Fans holding paid tickets for the game originally scheduled to be played Thursday may use them for the rescheduled game Friday, or exchange them for tickets to a similar regular season game at Yankee Stadium, subject to availability.

Gates will open to fans with valid tickets at 11 a.m., with pregame ceremonies scheduled to begin at approx. 12:30 p.m.

Scheduled starting pitchers — Gerrit Cole of the Yankees and Nathan Eovaldi of the Red Sox — will more than likely go Friday.

Meeting in an opener for the first time since 2005, the Yankees and Red Sox had been scheduled as the first game of a major league season pushed back from March 31 because of a 99-day lockout.

With the rainout, the first game for online MLB betting Thursday becomes the Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago Cubs at 2:20 p.m. ET.
