Bookmakers: Giants & Jets Have Equally Horrible 2021 Odds

Unless you are a Bills fan, there’s not a ton for New York football fans to get excited about. In fact, things are pretty miserable, and NY online sports betting sites don’t see things getting much better.

The New York Giants and New York Jets clearly aren’t in the Super Bowl discussion; they aren’t even really contenders in their own divisions. Oddsmakers believe these are among the two worst teams in the NFL, and they just so happen to share the same stadium.

Huge Super Bowl Longshots

The Giants currently have Super Bowl odds of +6600 at DraftKings New York, which are the third worst in the NFC. Only the Eagles (+7000) and Lions (+15000) have worse odds. Despite the Giants playing in one of the softer divisions in the NFL, oddsmakers don't believe this team is a legitimate threat even to make the playoffs, let alone win the Super Bowl.

Tom Brady may no longer be in the AFC East, but that hasn’t helped the Jets’ fortunes. They currently have the third worst odds in the NFL to win the Super Bowl at +8000. With New York owning the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL draft, the Jets are likely to start a rookie quarterback with a not-very-good roster. On top of that, the Bills, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots are all significantly better teams. It’s going to be another long year if you’re a Jets fan.

Near The Bottom In Conference Odds, Too

The Giants' odds to win the NFC and reach the Super Bowl sit at +3000. Again, only the Eagles (+3300) and the Lions (+6600) have worse odds. New York has a solid defense, but it's the offense that causes doubt among oddsmakers. As we've seen over the last decade in the NFC, it's a quarterback conference, and the Giants don't have a proven signal-caller yet to compete with the likes of Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

The Jets have slightly worse odds to come out of the AFC at +3300, with only the Texans (+6600) having worse odds. The Jets play in a loaded conference with two elite teams at the top in the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. Considering the Jets have won a total of 23 games over the last five seasons, it’s hard to imagine the Jets sniffing the top of the AFC in 2021.

Is There Value In NFC East or AFC East Odds?

The Giants are currently +450 to win the NFC East despite nearly winning the division last year. The Cowboys (+105) are the overwhelming favorites to win their division because of their quarterback. The rest of the NFC East has shaky quarterback play and oddsmakers have a hard time believing in any of the three other teams in the division. The Giants’ defense might keep them in enough games to go 8-9, but that’s likely not going to be enough to win them the division.

As for the Jets, they are viewed as a distant-fourth in the AFC East. Their odds to win the division sit at +1500, which is a significant drop-off from the other three teams. The Bills are a -150 favorite to win the division for a second straight season, but the Dolphins and Patriots are both lingering at +350. Until the Jets figure out their quarterback situation, expect their odds to be significantly lower than the rest of their foes.
