Which Month Has Been Yankees Best in Recent Seasons?
Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

The New York Yankees are coming off a disappointing season. Not making the postseason is always a sign of failure in the Big Apple. Loyal fans and surprised New York sports betting patrons expected a lot more.

In response, the Yankees’ front office was very active. Acquiring slugger Juan Soto was the biggest moves. You can’t bet on individual awards on New York betting apps, but FanDuel nationally has Soto listed at +600 to win the AL MVP, behind only his new teammate, Aaron Judge (+550).

With Soto on board, and optimism surrounding the ability of Judge and Giancarlo Stanton to stay healthy, the Yankees boast arguably the most powerful lineup in the majors.

With this promising season around the corner, EmpireStakes.com – your source for New York sportsbook promos - decided to look at the last three Yankees seasons to see in which months the club has been performing the best to give fans a realistic idea for when they can expect to see New York really hit its stride. We did this using Baseball-Reference.com to pull the monthly records from the past three years. Here are the results:

Rank, Month Record Winning Pct.
1. May 55-30 .637
2. September 49-30 .620
3. June   45-32 .584
4. April 41-34 .547
5. July 37-37 .500
6. August 41-44 .482

The Merry Month of May in Bronx

To fans’ delight, they shouldn’t have to wait long to see this squad’s full potential. The Yankees’ top month over the past three seasons has been May, with a 55-30 overall record.  April has also been a winning month, but it’s clearly taken New York a bit of time to get in a groove. May is when they really start performing.

September has been the second-best month with a 49-30 record. Yankees fans will be hoping they can use a strong September record as momentum going into the playoffs, not as a desperate string of wins to try and get back into a playoff position.

With the biggest concern around this roster being staying healthy, it would stand to reason that they will be at their peak early in the year before injuries inevitably start to pile up. Players like Judge and Stanton are coming off injury-plagued seasons and if those repeat themselves, it probably won’t hit until a couple of months into the year. If these guys can prove themselves to be more durable than they have shown, the Yankees will have every opportunity to turn around their historic July and August records, both of which are .500 or worse over the past three seasons.

FanDuel New York gives the Yankees odds of +800 to win the World Series, behind only the Los Angeles Dodgers (+320), Atlanta Braves (+450) and Houston Astros (+700).

There never are any guarantees that a team that is as solid on paper as these Yankees turns out to be great, but if history is any indication this squad should show their full potential early in the season. The challenge for them will be holding on through the dog days of summer to put together a truly special season.
