New York sports betting just missed its all-time weekly record in mobile handle and is well on its way to a new monthly recordas official figures for the week ending Jan. 22 were released Thursday.
More than $450.73 million was recorded for the week, an increase of more than $27.13 million from the week before. It also marked the fourth consecutive week it has gone above $400 million. The number was also the third-highest handle amount ever since the state’s Jan. 8 historic launch last year, according to the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC).
The state’s all-time number is more than $572.55 million for the week of Jan. 23, 2022. Second was $472.13 million for the week ending Feb. 13.
With onefull week left to be reported and with another $400 million likely, the number easily could go above $1.683 billion. That doesn’t include Jan. 1 and two days at the end of the month. A month eclipsing $1.7 billion sure is possible.
The state’s total Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) set a new all-time mark with more than $57.45 million generated, easily breaking the record of more than $44.49 million for the week ending Dec. 11, 2022.
Weekly tax was more than $29.3 million.
New York sports betting apps are taxed at 51%, which is tied with New Hampshire for the highest figure in the United States.
The Skinny on the Nine
Eight of the nine providers in the state posted mobile handle increases, except for PointsBet NY, which had a $6.15 million drop from more than $16.5 million the previous week.
Only two providers (WynnBet NY and Resorts World Bet NY) had decreases in their weekly GGR.
Fan Duel NY is still king with a new company record in the state of more than $182.39 million in total mobile handle, breaking its $181.21 million mark for the week ending Nov. 27. It also set a new total GGR record of more than $26.56 million.
Not to be outdone, DraftKings NY established two records: more than $152.36 million in handle and $20.24 million in total GGR. Sinch launch, DraftKings has generated just shy of $5 billion in total mobile handle. It will surpass $5 billion with the next weekly report.
Caesars Sportsbook NY posted more than $57.52 million in total mobile handle, its largest since $56.91 million was recorded for the week ending March 27, 2022. Its total GGR was above $6.07 million, its highest since $7.61 million was posted for the week ending March 13. To date, Caesars has generated more than $2.968 billion in mobile handle and should be over $3 billion with the state’s next reporting.
BetMGM recorded more than $32.47 million in total mobile handle, its largest since $36.25 million was set for the week ending April 10.
NY BetRivers registered more than $10.93 million in handle, its second consecutive week above $10 million and third of the last four. The $1.14 million in total GGR was its largest ever recorded.
Resorts World Bet in excess of $1.529 million in mobile handle, its highest since $1.82 million for the week ending Oct. 30.
Since launch, mobile sports betting in the Empire State has generated more than $17.577 billion in handle, $1.471 billion in GGR and $750.68 million in tax collection.
