Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

New York sports betting just missed its all-time weekly record in mobile handle and is well on its way to a new monthly recordas official figures for the week ending Jan. 22 were released Thursday.

More than $450.73 million was recorded for the week, an increase of more than $27.13 million from the week before. It also marked the fourth consecutive week it has gone above $400 million. The number was also the third-highest handle amount ever since the state’s Jan. 8 historic launch last year, according to the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC).

The state’s all-time number is more than $572.55 million for the week of Jan. 23, 2022. Second was $472.13 million for the week ending Feb. 13.

With onefull week left to be reported and with another $400 million likely, the number easily could go above $1.683 billion. That doesn’t include Jan. 1 and two days at the end of the month. A month eclipsing $1.7 billion sure is possible.

The state’s total Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) set a new all-time mark with more than $57.45 million generated, easily breaking the record of more than $44.49 million for the week ending Dec. 11, 2022.

Weekly tax was more than $29.3 million.
