New York Sports Betting Preview: Dominant Yankees Facing Tough Tests
Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

The best team in baseball is facing the first tough stretch of its schedule, starting Tuesday.

Take note, New York online betting.

The New York Yankees (44-16) will host American League East Division foe Tampa Bay Rays (35-25, nine games back), starting a three-game series with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

New York has won four consecutive games, highlighted by a three-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs last weekend.

The Yankees have won nine of their last 10 games and sport a 26-7 record at Yankee Stadium, where they have won 11 games in a row.

With a .733 winning percentage, the Yankees are on an incredible 119-win pace over a 162-game season.

Believe it or not, the Yankees got off to an even faster start in 1998. They were 46-14 after 60 games on their way to a vintage regular season record of 114-48 and a four-game sweep of the San Diego Padres to win the World Series. That team finished 62-19 at Yankee Stadium.

Tuesday’s Matchup, Odds

New York’s Gerrit Cole (5-1, 3.63 ERA) will face former Yankee Corey Kluber (3-2, 3.88 ERA) in the opener Tuesday night.

Caesars Sportsbook New York has the Yankees as a -220 moneyline favorite tonight and -1.5 runs (-110) with an over/under total on runs at eight.

Tampa Bay is a +190 moneyline betting underdog and +1.5 runs (-110).

In his last start, Cole struggled on the road against the Minnesota Twins. He gave up five home runs and seven runs in just 2 1/3 innings of work. In his last meetup with the Rays, he pitched six innings and allowed one run with 10 strikeouts.

Kluber makes his return trip back to Yankee Stadium after being with the team last season. Kluber has allowed just five runs in his last 17 innings (three starts), including a May 28 start against the Yankees.

The teams split a four-game series at Tropicana Field (May 26-29) as the Yankees won the first two games of the series, but dropped the second two, managing just three runs.
