Nets Historically Go Under

Dating back to 2010-11, the Nets have hit their win total just four times (33.3%), including the 2020-21 season where they posted 48 victories, 2.5 more than their preseason total of 45.5. In the six seasons with a win total under .500, the Nets have gone over two times (33.3%).

The past two seasons, the Nets’ predicted preseason win total was over 50 (56.5, 2021-22; 50.5, 2022-23) and in both finished with just 44 and 45 wins respectively. This year’s win total of 37.5 is the sixth-lowest predicted outcome since 2010-11.

Last season was a roller-coaster of a year for the Nets, having traded arguably their best two players in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Despite that, Brooklyn ended up with a 45-37 (.549) record and clinched the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference, losing to Philadelphia in a 4-0 series sweep in the first round of the playoffs.

Brooklyn opens its 2023-24 campaign at home against Cleveland at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 25, before embarking on a four-game road trip starting with Dallas at 8:30 p.m., Oct. 27.

As of Tuesday morning at BetMGM New York, the Nets are the fourth favorite at +3000 to win the Atlantic Division and +4000 to win the Eastern Conference.
