Caesars Fortifies New York Sports Betting Stronghold with NYRA Deal

NY Betting Apps launched only 19 days ago, but Caesars Sportsbook is continuing to make inroads within the state.

Caesars Sportsbook New York announced on Thursday a partnership agreement with the New York Racing Association (NYRA) naming Caesars as an official sports betting marketing partner and the title sponsor of the NYRA Turf Triple Series.

In addition, Caesars will partner with NYRA Bets for sports betting promotions and offers both across the state and on-site at Belmont Park in Elmont and Saratoga Race Course. Fans also will get the VIP treatment, including premium seating for Caesars Sportsbook bettors through its mobile app’s integration with the company’s loyalty program, Caesars Rewards.

“This partnership with NYRA will amplify the Caesars Sportsbook brand to NYRA Bets customers and at Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course, two of the most important venues in the sport,” said Eric Hession, co-president of Caesars Digital, in a news release. “We couldn’t be more excited for this partnership to reach horse racing fans and look forward to our involvement with NYRA’s premier thoroughbred racing.”

What Is the Turf Triple?

Launched in 2019, the Turf Triple is a series of races at both Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course that highlight the world’s best 3-year-old turf runners. All races have a purse of $1 million.

The Caesars Turf Triple this spring will be the Grade 1 Caesars Belmont Derby, the Grade 1 Caesars Saratoga Derby and the Caesars Jockey Club Derby.

Caesars Sportsbook will be on-site at Belmont and Saratoga throughout the 2022 meets, offering many marketing activations and promotions.

Caesars Leading Way in Handle

After just nine days of live operation in the state, Caesars NY had the best start of the four operators that launched with a little less under $258 million in handle. In all, the state handle after nine days (Jan. 8-16) was $603 million.

Caesars Sportsbook was among the first sports betting operators to launch in the Empire State on the day mobile sports wagering went live and benefitted from its relationship with NYRA Bets to reach its online horse racing audience. Also launching on Jan. 8 were DraftKings New York, FanDuel New York and BetRivers New York.

“Caesars has been a household name in the gaming and entertainment industry for decades,” said Tony Allevato, NYRA chief revenue officer and president of NYRA Bets. “NYRA jumped at this opportunity, and we look forward to deepening this partnership in the future.”

In early January, FOX sports and the NYRA announced an eight-year agreement in which FOX Sports will acquire the exclusive media rights for the Belmont Stakes.
