So, too, have the NBA and NHL seasons, with the MLS in its playoffs. 

How Could ESPN BET Enter The New York Market?

The quickest way that ESPN BET could enter the New York market would be to acquire an existing license from one of the nine operators in the state. The big four – FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars and BetMGM account for about 95% of the betting market and are presumably untouchable. PointsBet recently sold to Fanatics. That leaves BetRivers, WynnBET, Bally Bet, Resorts World Bet.

A longer way for ESPN BET to enter the market would require legislative/government intervention to increase the number of approved sports betting operators in the state past nine.

• 📅 August 11, 2023 – WynnBET announced that it was shutting down its sports betting operations in eight states, including New Jersey. It was keeping Nevada and Massachusetts, where is has brick-and-mortar casinos. Michigan would remain available "for a period of time." New York will continue to be available but is "under review."
• 📅 August 8, 2023 – Penn National Gaming and ESPN entered into a 10-year agreement to form ESPN BET Sportsbook. It would rebrand existing Barstool Sportsbook operations.
